oil on canvas
64 x H 120 cm
Born in Beyrouth in 1959, Francine Demeulenaere arrived in Paris in 1975, escaping war in Lebanon. She studied interior design then travelled in the Hoggar desert to study natural shapes. On her return, she followed l’Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, and in 1988, began being displayed in a Parisian gallery.
She worked with other artists and met an american collector, who bought a few pieces which enabled her work to move to another level of research.
She discovered the work of Aurelie Nemours and Louise Bourgeois. She met the latter in 2004 in New York where she lives now.
Spending almost forty years of painting, drawing and photographing nature, she has specialised on the environment and harmony between nature and cities.
